Splurge vs. Steal: The Moroccan Pouf

The Moroccan Pouf. Need I say more?

This pouf is incredibly versatile. It can be used as a decorative piece, footstool, or as extra seating in a pinch. If you live in a small space, this is the perfect accessory for you! These poufs come in a variety of colours; you can add a pop of colour to your otherwise monochromatic colour scheme, add some texture with a metallic pouf, or keep it simple with white {my preference}. It’s difficult to find this item at a decent price. The approximate price of one pouf is $400 {give or take a few dollars}. A pouf at this price can be found at The Cross Design for $395 CAD. However, I found a {serious steal} deal on Etsy where they have TWO Moroccan Poufs {YES, I said TWO} for $194 CAD. It’s worth mentioning, the Etsy version is the same size as The Cross Design poufs {in fact, they’re 2 inches taller}, and they’re both made of real leather & silk. It’s also worth mentioning that the Etsy poufs are made in Morocco…it doesn’t get more authentic than that! I will be purchasing the Etsy poufs for my new home, and will post pics when I get them!

Splurge vs. Steal: Box Frame Coffee Table

Splurge | West Elm {special} $326.39 CAD

vs.

Steal | Target $129.00 USD

I fell in love with the West Elm box frame coffee table a few months back. I love whitewashed wood because it softens the look while keeping a rustic/antique feel. While the Target version bears a resemblance to the West Elm table, the quality of the wood top differs quite a bit. The splurge table top is made of mango wood, while the steal version is made of MDF. Regardless of this difference, it is difficult to tell the two tables apart! If you’re looking for style at a great price, the Target coffee table is right up your alley. Should you prefer a quality product that you’re willing to spend the extra money on, stick with West Elm! Either way, you’re getting a beautiful & stylish table…you can’t go wrong!

Splurge vs. Steal: {Another} Lantern Chandelier

PB lantern

Splurge | Pottery Barn $560.12 CAD

vs.

Steal | Overstock $164.89 CAD

O lantern chandelier

Is it just me, or are lantern chandeliers ‘in’ right now? While this chandelier is quite different from the one I posted last week, they fall under the same category. This light fixture can be hung in your foyer, living room, dining room, or above a winding staircase. If you’d like to hang it as a feature light, you could splurge and go for the Pottery Barn version. If you’d like to put one in every room, opt for the Overstock fixture! 😉

Pretty things. I liiike.

If you’re like me, you might find yourself gravitating toward expensive items more often than not. It could be because we automatically think the higher the price tag, the better the quality; but I think the majority of the time, it’s because we don’t know there is something similar {identical} & more affordable out there, nor do we care to look for it. Nowadays, it’s all about instant gratification. If we see something we want, we buy it. This especially applies to online shopping; it’s so EASY.

If you’re like me, you also like to save a dollar {or many dollars}. Luckily, finding an item that comes in {waaaaay} under budget is more satisfying than buying the first thing you see. This A) allows you to save a ton of money or B) allows you to buy more of what you like.

So, A) save yourself some money or B) go ahead, keep shopping! You might choose the latter once you see what else I found at bargain prices this week 😉

Splurge vs. Steal: The Tudor Chair

Splurge | Pottery Barn {special} $1233.95 CAD

vs.

Steal | Urban Barn $899 CAD

Not only do I love Urban Barn for their stylish and affordable furniture, but it’s a Canadian company and this chair {along with the rest of their custom made sofas and chairs} are Canadian made.

The Pottery Barn Tudor chair has a little more detail than the Urban Barn Loden chair {nailhead detail & wheels on the front legs} which might explain the higher price tag. But if you appreciate simplicity, clean lines, & saving money, you will love the latter!
